Chelsea Physic Garden, London
Central Saint Martins, Foundation in Design / Architecture and Spatial Design specialization 2019
In collaboration with the Chelsea Physic Garden, the oldest botanical garden in London, our project aimed to enhance the visitor experience and attract more people to the garden. I focused on the herb section and discovered the popularity of the Kokedama-making class held there. Inspired by this, I designed an interactive installation that would create a memorable and inclusive experience for visitors.

Kokedama is a Japanese botanical technique that involves growing plants by covering them with moss and suspending them with string. I incorporated this concept into the installation to engage the audience and enhance the garden's beauty. To ensure the project's sustainability and minimize damage to the herb patio, I chose to suspend the installation using artificial timber instead of real trees.

The project was designed to complement the existing beauty of the garden while adding a playful element and fostering a connection with nature. It was among the top three proposals considered by the Chelsea Physic Garden for actual implementation in the space.
